As we have discussed above that a sound mind will have a sound body. It is because it is our perspective and thought pattern that helps us interpret the world around us. Our mental health affects our emotions, acts and feelings. It also determines how we handle stress, difficult situations in life. Therefore, raising awareness about mental health will help you understand your symptoms and most importantly raising awareness will break the taboo and stigmas associated with mental health.

According to research mental health is the most neglected field in Pakistan where 10- 16% of the population. More than 14 million, suffers from mild to moderate psychiatric illness, the majority of which are women. This continuous violence and threat to life have had a damaging effect on the psychological health of many people in particular in Pakistani society.

Therefore it is important to remove stigmas and taboos associated with mental health. Let’s take an example if your sister gets crazy and diagnosed with bipolar disorder will you lock her in the room or get her treated. When we are well aware of psychological complications it si then we know that at which point we need to get treated. As diabetes and any other mental physical health problems. Mental health problems are realistic they exist and can be treated just like any other physical disease.

Developed countries are more forward in terms of providing more resources. They are implementing consistent high quality educational and treatment systems to effectively address mental health concerns.

Here is the list of some most common mental health problems which people ignore and don’t pay heed to :

  • Generalized anxiety disorder

Our acts are the product of our thoughts and thinking patterns. Another famous proverb is we are what we eat. With that, there is another one that states we are what content we consume. Therefore, for stable mental health and a good thinking perspective, we need to consume good content. This can only be done when one is aware of things.

To conclude it is important to have awareness of mental health. More awareness will lead to breaking stigmas from society. Hence, enabling the individuals to live a happy life and form a positive and happy society.
