  • Reception: Expressing a thoughtful or passive openness to heavenly insight or guidance.
  • Obligatory prayers: In several religions like Islam and Judaism, there are repeated ritualistic prayers. To conclude, these prayers are performed at the same time each day and are considered an obligatory part of religion.

The question of how prayer improves personal well-being is complicated because researchers first have to distinguish between the types and modes of prayer.

Social support is considered to be the most powerful factor contributing to the well-being of an individual. Likewise, social support has a great influence on stress and the immune system. Moreover, the religious community can be a significant component contributing to positive physical health and wellbeing.
